New venue for 2012
Foodies Festival Christmas returns to Edinburgh this December for the UK’s largest celebration of food and drink at the new location of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December 2012.
Food-lovers are invited to feast on a vast array of culinary activities taking place at the 2-day festival including chef demonstrations, food and drinks masterclasses. And throughout November the festive celebrations commence with The 12 Days of Foodies Christmas – exclusive food and drink offers and events from Foodies’ participants:
16-25 November: Real Foods of Edinburgh are creating an exciting Foodies advent calendar on Facebook with chances to win Foodies tickets.
Attend the ‘Carving Demonstration and Dinner’ on 28 November, the’ Beer and Food Matching’ on 20 November or the ‘Seasonal Cookery Class’ on 24 November at the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School and receive a free ticket to Foodies Christmas.
15-30 November: order a special Foodies Christmas cocktail at Treacle on Broughton St, Edinburgh, and receive a free ticket to Foodies Christmas.
Wednesday 28 November, 5.45-6.45pm: an evening of canapés and fizz with Neil Forbes at Cafe St Honoré in Edinburgh with a Foodies Christmas ticket included in the entry price of £15.
Wednesday 28 November: Peter Donnolly of Pol Roger will lead Drinkmonger customers through a dream line up of Christmas day drinks including champagne, wine, whisky and cognac. Tickets cost £17.50 and include a Foodies Christmas ticket.

Edinburgh Foodie Festival
Chefs
Foodies Christmas features some of Scotland’s top chefs who will cook their festive signature dishes live in the Chefs’ Theatre and explain how amateur cooks can prepare the same dishes at home. This year’s line-up comprises Michelin-starred chefs Jeff Bland from The Balmoral Hotel, John Quigley from Red Onion, Scottish chef of the year 2011 Neil Forbes, Great British Menu contestant Mark Greenaway, Jacqueline O’Donnell from The Sisters, Graeme Pallister from 63 Tay Street, Carina Contini from Centotre, Paul Tamburrini from The Honours, Tom Lewis from Monachyle Mhor, Graeme Pallister from 63 Tay Street, Paul Wedgwood from Wedgwood the Restaurant and Mattia Camorani from Cucina at Hotel Missoni.
This year’s Christmas Food Theatre is being run by Edinburgh New Town Cookery School. With six hands-on lessons per day visitors will get the chance to perfect Christmas canapés, decorate cakes and take part in family classes.
The Drinks Theatre invites visitors to be amongst the first in the UK to sample new products and expand their knowledge. Over the course of the weekend Hendricks Gin will demonstrate ‘The 12 Drinks of Christmas’, Treacle Bar will unlock the mystery of the perfect Christmas cocktail including a special Foodies creation, The Whisky Lounge will share samples of amazing whiskies, The Eden Brewery from St Andrews will offer tastings of local beers and wine-expert Charles Metcalfe will run festive food matching sessions with Australian wines, explore the world of Portuguese wines and explain different varieties of champagne.
With over 100 exhibitors, the Producers’ Market showcases the best Scottish produce including cheese, meat, cakes and breads, sweets and chocolate, and an array of gifts, as well as containing a wine and champagne village and a whisky demo area. Visitors can relax with a mulled wine and a mince pie whilst listening to traditional carol singers in the bar and cafe areas which will also be selling hot cider and roasted chestnuts.

Day tickets cost £10 (concession £8) and includes entry to the chefs’ theatre and food and drinks masterclasses, which must be registered for upon arrival. Entry is free for children aged 16 and under accompanied by an adult.
