On Rodney Street

From online to Rodney Street, Edinburgh’s first marshmallow shop

If you’re a lover of flavoured marshmallows, then you’re going to love the latest addition to Rodney Street – The Marshmallow Lady shop and cafe (now open).

Nicole Roberts who has been running her online marshmallow store – Burgh Bakes since last year has branched out from home kitchen and opened her own shop based around her popular marshmallows.

Her customers across the UK will still be able to order online, but this new venture allows locals to visit and purchase in person.

With a trio of tables in the light and airy premises, you can sit in and enjoy a range of drinks and marshmallows. Still very much in its infancy, the cafe will be serving a range of cakes in the next couple of weeks, making this a great wee tea and cake stop in the Canonmills area.

Inside the shop

Also housed in the new place is a mini-shop where you can buy from Nicole’s famous range of marshmallows. There’s strawberry, raspberry, key lime pie, coconut to name a few, with a weekly special flavour. There is also a gluten, dairy and fat free option, making these light and fluffy treats suitable for all.

We visited today (soft launch) and despite the paint barely dry on the walls, there’s a warm and friendly atmosphere amongst the eclectic decorations, some of which has been salvaged from skips and lovingly restored.

Cute little touches

You can also peek into the kitchen at the rear and see where the magic marshmallows are made.

We have a feeling that this will be a very popular place to catch up with friends once word has spread around town that the Marshmallow Lady has fulfilled her dreams of opening a shop.
